Director Banini Opens Up on Music Video Shoot Experience with Spice and Stonebwoy
Ghanaian film director Banini has shared insights into his experience working with Jamaican and Ghanaian artistes during the production of the “Jiggle and Whine” music video.
Speaking in an interview on WatsUp TV’s Fan Mix Live, Banini revealed that working with Jamaican dancehall star Spice presented some challenges on set, noting that the shoot required extra effort to ensure comfort and coordination during production.
In contrast, he described working with Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy as smooth and efficient, saying the collaboration made the directing process easier.
“I always try to make artistes feel comfortable when shooting music videos,” he said, emphasizing his approach to creating a relaxed environment on set. He added that his creative process is heavily influenced by how he interprets music visually, explaining, “When I listen to music, I see images. My whole life has been filmmaking.”
Banini’s comments highlight the behind-the-scenes dynamics of music video production, especially when working across different cultures and performance styles.
