Mr Eazi Reveals the Moment He Finally Felt Like a Star

Nigerian Afrobeats musician Mr Eazi has opened up about a memorable moment in his career that convinced him he had officially become a recognised artiste.

The singer identified July 22, 2016, as a major turning point in his journey. On that day, he performed his first headline concert at the O2 Kentish Town in London.

Mr Eazi recalled being overwhelmed when he stepped onto the stage and realised that the crowd knew his music far better than he expected.

He said he handed the microphone to the audience, expecting only a few people to join in. Instead, a large section of the crowd sang along to his songs, including the lyrics.

For Mr Eazi, that experience confirmed that his music had reached people on a much bigger level.

Speaking to Brut, the musician revealed that music was not initially his main source of income. At the time, he was also involved in a used mobile phone business in Lagos while developing his music career.

He admitted that he deliberately kept his musical ambitions away from his business life because he feared people would not take him seriously as an entrepreneur if they knew he was also pursuing music.

However, his performance in London changed his outlook completely.

The reaction from the crowd gave him the confidence to take music more seriously and eventually make it his main career. He later stopped trying to balance different identities and focused fully on establishing himself as a musician.
