Leaving Nigeria Should Be Your Biggest Dream – Skales Tells Nigerian Youths
Afrobeats artist Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has advised Nigerian youths to prioritize moving abroad.
He stated that leaving Nigeria would help young people stay safe and give them a better chance of achieving their goals.
On X, he posted, “As a young Nigerian, your biggest dream should be to leave Nigeria so you can survive and actually achieve your dream by at least staying alive.”
The post sparked mixed reactions, with many criticizing him for promoting brain drain rather than encouraging citizens to hold leaders accountable.
Some users also argued that his claim about finding better lives and security abroad was misleading, pointing out issues like racism and other challenges Nigerians face overseas.
Others accused him of speaking negatively about the country after Nigeria and Nigerians contributed to his success and fame.

Omoooo Y’all act like Nigeria is the problem meanwhile Nigerians are the problem! Nigeria is just a place on the map.”

“Even if I leave, I’m sure coming back. If we all ‘dream to leave,’ who remains? Land of richness in all ramifications and we are fleeing? Go and come back to build. It will take time, but the work has to be done.”
